We threw my sister a champagne brunch shower last June at 11:0am. We started out with some fruit and cheese and crackers, and hummus and pita chips. We served finger sandwiches (turkey and roast beef) a green salad with walnuts, mini quiches, and for dessert we served cupcakes. Hope this helps.

We had a cocktail reception when we were married. It was from 12:30-3 in the afternoon and we served passed hors ‘derves (sp?) with cheese and fruit stations. Then we had our cake with also passed desserts. Our drinks were champagne and wine and soda/coffee.

If I could add one thing it probably would have been some finger sandwiches, something of a little more substance.

    Brunches are from about 10a-2p
Cocktail hour is usually before 7p. It’s also called ‘happy hour’; just a fancier term. But we usually consider it cocktail hour when cocktails are served. You could also have a cocktail hour after dinner time
