I’m not hiring one. It’s just another expense in our already small budget. These days there are so many ideas online that you really don’t need one anyway … unless of course you are planning a $50,000 wedding for 300 guests or something.
How far in advance is your wedding? Do you have a job that keeps you out of town frequently. Is your wedding taking place other than where you live? Are you a wealthy couple?
Most women handle the details of their wedding just fine. Wealthier couples have extravaganza weddings where a planner is absolutely necessary. Someone who is unavailable to take calls or out of town all the time may need a planner for details. If your wedding is a year out, you have plenty of time to plan yourself.
I don’t have a wedding planner, but I think that this question is best answered by asking you how well you know what you are looking for as far as your wedding goes. If you are comfortable deciding all the details yourself and researching vendors, then a wedding planner is unnecessary. If you are unsure and want to get really good deals, a wedding planner could be very helpful. Wedding planners vary in the amount of work they actually do also. Some just help find vendors and leave the details to the bride, some coordinate things on the wedding day only, and some design every last detail of the wedding. It all depends on what you want.
I had a specific vision in mind, and enjoy trying to find DIY and cheap ways to make my wedding beautiful and memorable, so I didn’t feel that a wedding planner was necessary.
I think it depends on if you are getting married at home, or away.
Home – I think most people can find everything they need themselves, with the help of the internet.
Away – My planner is a GODDESS. I would have gotten ripped off so bad had she not been here for me.
Also it depends on your lifestyle. If you are busy, then it might be a good idea
It depends on the type of wedding you want, how much money you have to spend, and how much time you have to invest into planning your wedding. I had an inexpensive wedding and my husband liked to help plan our wedding, so we did not use a wedding planer.
If I was having a large wedding and I was spending a lot of money on my wedding I would has so used a wedding planner. I do not handle stress well and I would not want to relie on my husband that much to plan that big of an event.
my boifriend and i hav already agreed that we aren’t going to hire one. We, and a lil help from our parents, are going to try and plan it ourselves. i know it’s going to be alot of things to keep up with, but the money we save on that can go towards the wedding bills.
I didn’t have one. I worked full time and still managed to plan a beautiful wedding with lots of detail. I just don’t see the point of paying someone a ton of money to do something that I can do myself. Our venue had a guy (above maitre’d) who took care of all the day-of stuff, and that was it.
Hey! I am a wedding planner, so of course I think my job is important!
There are many people who are lucky enough to have a lot of free time, and plenty of friends and family to help them plan their wedding.
STILL- Wedding planners can SAVE you a lot of MONEY! They can pass their vendor discounts on to you, saving you 10-15% of your costs!
Again, you don’t NEED a wedding planner, but why not? They don’t have to be super expensive (they actually pay for themselves because of the $$ they save you) and they can save you so much time and worry!
Good luck!
