Any amazing, affordable ideas to help my sister relieve some of her wedding stress?

I’m putting a lot of money and effort into the wedding itself, so I don’t have much left over to help her out, but she’s really having a bit of a breakdown between plans and her job…she only has one night off a week and I want to do something special for her that’s not too awkward or cheesy.

My idea is to have her over for a nice dinner (she’s vegetarian – meal ideas?!? I’m a pure carnivore and am kind of at a loss!) and let her borrow my bathroom for a luxurious bath in my claw footed tub she’s been lusting after and give her a facial and pedicure kit to kind of pamper herself while I stay at my mother in law’s house. My sister”s relocating from out of state and has been living at our mother’s house for months until the wedding so I figure just giving her free reign of my house to lounge around in her robe and watch television or whatever while I babysit her son elsewhere might be a nice treat for her.

I’m just curious what I should add to this – I know it seems kind of chintzy or cheesy but it’s a gift from the heart and I’m just looking at other ways to make it special for her, this simple night of no worries.

An amazing dessert…movie rental selections that will help her cry to relieve some of her stress…heck, even a bubble bath scent recommendation would be helpful. Any ideas whatsoever? She means a lot to me and I’d give her the moon if I had it, but like I said I’m kind of tapped out and need some down-home ideas.

is it rude to ask my overweight bridesmaid to lose some weight before my wedding so the photos look better?

I’m getting married Nov. 1st and a friend of my fiance’s family said as our wedding gift she is going to pay/do all our flowers (yippy)! She has been asking about what flowers do I want in mine and my bridesmaids bouquets. I have no idea?! I know my colors are apple red, silver and white. I was thinking that my bridesmaids have white flowers (since they’re dressed in red) and mine be red. Can you please give me some good floral arrangement ideas? Thanks!

My fiance and I are wanting to get married this August, we know it is really close. We are not trying to plan anything extravagant..we just want to basically get married in a church (we are not members of any church currently…) with just our parents present. Then we want our reception to have all of our friends and family (around 150 people)

We dont want to spend a lot of money…My mom is an event caterer and is very crafty so she would be taking care of all my decorations and food…so we are just looking for a cheap but nice place to get married as well as have our reception. We dont need them to be at the same place. like i said we were just planning on having a small church ceremony.. I am very new to all of this any help would be greatly appreciated!! thanks

My fiancee and I are planning to be married in March. We are getting married beside a lake in a gazebo, then moving our reception about 100ft. away to a pavilion. (In Georgia, late March, you usually have decent weather that’s not too hot or cold to be outside) Neither of us are very (I’m not sure of the word) high maintenance. We both come from middle class families. We are both very laid back people, we like to spend time with our friends, and enjoy having people over quite a bit. We want our wedding reception to be more like a party-type function. No elegant sit-down dinners, and no speeches. Just good food, good people, and fun. So far I have planned for everyone to walk over, grab some pizza, and a beer, and sit down and listen to music. Then I have a party/prom-esque type play list for dancing. I think a wedding should be how the couple wants it to be. We want ours completely laid-back. We have Hawaiian/luau type decorations, and our centerpieces are goldfish in goldfish bowls with blue stones in the bottom. My bridesmaids dresses are short party dresses, all the same style, but each a different color. The wedding party will be wearing leis, and the guests will have them on their table to wear. On the invitations I will inform the guests to wear Hawaiian apparel, and/or casual dresses. Is this too laid-back?? Too laid-back that it may offend someone?? Opinions please.

**we are having a bartender, so there will definitely be other options for drinks, plus we’ll have the traditional soft drinks, tea, water, etc.
**we are planning on having other foods as well including wings, chicken tenders, some more finger foods. plus, pineapple pizza, to add to the Hawaiian theme

Why do some people care how much your wedding is?

Do you care how much someone else’s wedding is? My friends get the jealous tone in their voices and say “Well I would never spend this much on a wedding.” “Or why don’t you use it for the honeymoon” Then they get more pissed when they find out our honeymoon is a 2 week trip to Europe along with the money we are spending on the wedding.

Everyone thinks everyone is struggling because the media wants us to believe so. If I want to spend a quarter of a million dollars on my wedding and it won’t put me in debt, then I can do it. I shouldn’t have to explain myself to other people who say “Well I only spent $2k on my wedding.” Well good for you. Everything in our wedding is paid for with cash. We haven’t put anything on a credit card. We our about to own two houses and have three cars. Why should people be snippy towards my wedding budget?
I don’t brag. My bridesmaids and MOH are a huge part of the planning, so they are there when I write checks or check out planners, florist, ect.
Most of our money comes from investments my father passed down to me when he died. Some of our money are from bonds. Some of our money are from trust funds. Some of it are from our parents who had accounts mared just for childrens weddings. So no, I am not flaunting it. They are there when I write out a check. It’s not like I have t0shirts saying I am having a blah blah wedding! How much is yours?

I just want to know why all of a sudden, everyone is in my face about the cost of my wedding. How much do you think it should cost for 500 guests, their plane tickets, hotel, rehersal dinners, ect?

What are some good places in Texas to have a wedding reception?

My fiance are getting married in the Detroit area in June 2011 and we are trying to decide on a photographer. We have looked at a ton of websites and narrowed it down to four. We originally liked A Thousand Words but my friend that is a photographer said he wasn’t that impressed, which made me feel like I didn’t really know what I was doing. Would any of you mind checking out the wedding galleries on their websites (and there are links to their blogs with more photos which helps to decide if their work is consistently good) and let me know what you think of each of them?

Note: We like a relaxed, playful, photojournalistic style. I do not like shots where everyone is posed just standing in a line.
