Okay my husband’s brother is getting married and we are disagreeing w/ the amount the gift should be.
I say $200 is enough and what we can afford but my husband says $300.
My brother-in-law was in his 20′s when my husband and I wed and he was in the wedding party and gave us a $10 picture frame. I never brought this up w/ my husband because I believe that my brother-in-law could only afford a small gift at that time, but since then we have had 2 children and he has never sent any gifts for them or has never sent the cards for holidays or birthdays.
I don’t want to remind my husband of all of this because he thinks that it trivial but I don’t feel that I should go outside of my budget to give the wedding gift amount of $300.
Oh and we have to go to Florida for the wedding and stay at a hotel for 2 days and in my opinion the hotel that is reserved is expensive at 170 per night plus airline tickets…..okay now I’m ranting. Just tell me how much you think, please.

There is only about 35people at the most showing. I dont want a lot of money put into this but how much should i be expecting to pay for: decent venue for reception, nice – but not too nice – catering service, preacher, party favors, pretty much all the little details. I dont want a fancy one but i dont want a redneck wedding either. ive already got the bridemaids dresses and mine with all the little accessories for those picked out, plus invintations and it doesnt even equal up to 2thousand. Are the big bucks coming now that im looking into catering and venues??? for catering i want it to be buffet with servers and american, italian and mexican food layout. Thanks!
PS – i dont wanna spend over 4grand

I was wondering if anyone knew how much a wedding planner charged on average?

When I originally pictured my wedding I pictured an elegant but understated fitted lace dress. I found some I love but nothing was right and then I tried on this dress….

It has a detachable skirt so it becomes a sweet little cocktail dress for the reception. I fell in love with it. But I’m very conflicted. This almost seems like a dress you’d wear to a big elegant wedding in a cathedral or something. Everything we’re doing is very fun and casual. The men are wearing tan suits. The girls are wearing sky blue dresses with chocolate sashes and crop sweaters to match.
I know it’s my wedding and I should stand out but I don’t want to be too flashy. I’m also worried about wearing a big skirted dress outdoors.
Any opinions/advice?
