How to tell her she RSVP’d for too many?

I emailed my father’s cousin’s wife the other day to ask about their RSVP to my upcoming wedding, as they had not yet sent in a response. When I sent the invitation to her originally, it said “Mr. and Mrs. Chris Smith”. Etiquette dictates that only the people specifically mentioned on the invite are allowed to come.

She responded to my (very polite) email with “yes there will be 6″.

My guest list can’t accommodate that many and I didn’t invite six people in the first place!

What is the most polite response there is, telling her that, while I am happy she is coming, my guest list is tight and she can only RSVP for 2?

I’m trying on dresses for the first time this weekend and I’m going with my mom and maid of honor. I have some really good friends that live in town and want to help with wedding planning as well.
Would it be a bad idea to invite two more friends to help me decide?

Or does it not matter at all? I trust these women’s opinions and they will be honest.

I thought I was inviting like 60 people, i just counted it and its 90 people!! Shocking because we were planning for a small wedding. This is just a maybe number though coming from the save the dates i sent out and how many people are in each family. I send out the invites in a month and then when the rsvp’s come back i’ll know for sure.

My fiance and I are contemplating on how many people to invite to our reception. We have invited about 550 people to our wedding. Just including family and our wedding court we came out with 197 people for the reception. How many people should we invite? Any comment will help. Thanks

I will be having beer, wine, and our specialty drink, but I am curious as to how important it is to have alcohol. I have heard many negative things from guests who have attended a wedding reception and no alcohol was being served.
