My friend is getting married and her wedding is buffet style and they aren’t going to have plate settings..?

She is going to have napkins set up like envelopes on the table and she is wondering what would be a good thing to place in the napkins…Her colors are navy blue, silver and cream color…Her theme is classy, beautiful and elegant..
She is getting married in July…
She can’t use her wedding favors because the ones she has can’t fit…Her favors are stemless wineglasses…And it’s buffet style so there can’t be a menu used in there :)

Best friend getting married in a rush to compete with me?

I got engaged last month, planning a wedding for January 2011. My best friend has been saying how jealous she is that I am engaged. Now she told her boyfriend she wants to get engaged ASAP so that she can get married before me.

Previously, she had been telling me how she didn’t think she was ready to get engaged. Now all of a sudden she has changed her mind and it sounds like she is doing so out of jealousy. I am REALLY WORRIED she is making a big decision hastily to compete with me.

Should I tell her my concerns? If so, how? I am afraid she will not listen and will get angry with me. Maybe it isn’t my place to voice my concerns, and I should just be supportive. Also I am worried she will think that I just don’t want her to be “first”. Should I push back my own wedding so she can have a longer engagement but still be “first”?
My fiance and I don’t have a real date yet — we just got engaged a few weeks ago! He’s letting me pick whatever date I want as long as it’s between January and May of next year. So “pushing it back” a few months is trivially easy seeing as how we don’t have any firm plans yet.
I resent being called a spoiled brat because I’m thinking about changing my wedding day for a friend. My fiancé and I aren’t religious and our wedding is mostly to make our family happy — we are already privately committed to each other. We’re having a BBQ in the backyard of the house we’ve lived in for several years together, so it can be whenever we want it to be…

A friend from work is getting married in early September. How early is too early to send the wedding gift?

I am going to the wedding with my boyfriend. When I attend a wedding I give $50 if it’s a buffet, per person, $100 to $150 if it’s a sit down dinner. I either give cash or items off of the registry.

This time, I want to give items off of the registry and, with what I want to spend, I could buy everything off of their registry for the bathroom. Towels, shower curtain, soap dispensers, etc. I think it would be cool to have bought the whole rooms worth of stuff!

Anyway, I also like to buy registry items from the appropriate registry website, then have it shipped to the couples home, so that they don’t have to lug it around on the wedding day.

How early is too early to send the wedding gift? I don’t want other people to buy the items that I want to buy, but I also don’t want the gift to be forgotten by the wedding day. Can I send the gifts now or should I wait until closer to the date? Thanks!
I base what I give on the dinner as I don’t want my date and I to be an expense to the couple, when they have so many expenses already. I like to “Pay that back” somehow. I want to enjoy the day WITH them, not be an expense.

Certainly if they are really close friends or family, I spend more! : )
Yes, I’ve received an invitation and already RSVP’d.

If a buffet costs more then I don’t know why people do it, because it does not come across as costing more at all, in my opinion!
