Giving money as a gift…the never ending debate?

What’s your opinion on that? I don’t see the big deal. I’d rather receive money as gift, and I’d rather give money as a gift. People say they don’t like giving money as gift because it shows the value of the gift, and it may be too cheap or too expensive. Well in my opinion, I’d rather someone give me $20 in a card rather than some $80 toaster that I probably won’t use!

Why do people feel the need to give gifts that they think the person should have, rather than giving a gift that person would want? I just don’t understand the logic behind it.

What’s your opinion? If you are against giving out money as a gift, then please explain why?

Also, people don’t mind wedding registries, but are highly offended if a couple requests money. Why? What’s he difference? Either way, they are still asking for what they want, so why saying you want money tacky, but setting up a registry isn’t?

Last question Who wrote the book of etiquette anyway? Shouldn’t someone update it?

(I guess this is sort of a rant, but I am curious as to how other people feel about it)
Wow. I didn’t know thats how people felt. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions though. It still doesn’t make much sense to me. To me, it doesn’t seem impersonal. To me it seems like you are giving something that you know the person can use instead of playing the guessing game.
Orangutan, I’m surprised you said it isn’t common for weddings. I actually think it’s the opposite. Weddings may be the main event where the couple would prefer a monetary gift!

Wedding video ending?

Ok – so my wedding videographer has agreed to re-do our wedding video after the ‘final product’ he gave us looked was a disaster. One of the things that was a disaster was the ending He had a terrible shot that ended with a zoom in of a door lock…. it was a terrible ending.

So we need to tell him how we want the video to end, but, we have never seen a wedding video before, let alone planned one out – so what are some creative ways that we could possibly end the video?

I thought about taking some of our photos and having a montage at the end. I thought about going back to some ceremony footage in slow motion at the end. Someone had suggested earlier clips in a vintage look (the sratches and dust with the reel lines).

What would you suggest to do. We had a real simple, classic and timeless type wedding and would love the video to actually reflect what our day was.

Hi I would like to complete this poem I am putting together to ask for monetary gifts in a nice way for my weeding but I dont know how.
The poem goes as follows:

To save you looking, shopping, or buying
Here is an idea we hope you like trying
Come to our wedding to wish us both well
And throw and envelope in our wishing well
Fill it with paper all colores will do
Green is our favorite but others will do

Then from here I dont know to end it!
