Anyway, my family members know that i have a lot of money on my account because not like them, i actually save. I feel bad for them, my uncle especially, because the economy hit him bad. He always asks me for money and i never say no. The first time he did, i said yes because i felt bad. But today, he came to my room and made up some excuse to borrow money from me AGAIN. Can i just say this really quick?…he is in his 60s. Yeahp, and I’m 17.

Anyway, i don’t mind sharing. actually i do but i can never say no because even if i know you’re lying….i don’t wanna ever feel like you probably weren’t and i said no for no reason. So today he came to my room and asked me for money…yes this is the 20000th time. Of course i had to give him some of my tip money that i’ve been saving up for weeks…despite my urges to buy those cute redskins yoga pants from victoria’s secret.

I just hate that he ASSUMES that i’ll always say yes. he just EXPECTS it. He doesn’t even ask around the house for money from the other 100 people o live with us. no…because he knows i’ll say yes.

so please help me. How do i say no without feeling guilty and ruining the relationship? I just don’t want people to always expect me to lend them money. I want to be able to save up for myself and not have to attend to other peoples wants just because of their failure to take care of their own financial needs and wants. I mean really….if he can just cut down on the starbucks consumption everyday…he’d save himself a great load of money. we all have to make sacrifices…like me and those cute yoga pants.

Of yeah…and the worst part is…please pay close attn.

This weekend was a 3-day weekend.
I worked friday an hour after school and got home at 11pm
I worked saturday from 12 pm to 10 pm…and got home at 11pm of course
I worked sunday from 1pm to 6:30pm…and got home at 7pm.
…i couldn’t even go laser tagging with my friends as planned…FML!
Today, i worked from 1pm to 8pm. i just got home a few hours ago.
Tomorrow, I work an hour after school until 10pm…will probably get home at 11pm
Wednesday i start my new job from right after school to 9pm…will probably get home at 10pm
Thursday is my only day off but i know for a FACT that i’ll get called in to work like i always do.
and then….the cycle starts again. fri sat sun mon tue wed thur next week. HOW FKIN AWESOME!

I complained to my mom about how I’ve been working too hard and I’m Always tired and this is supposed to be my fun year. She told me it’s only for a little while. But i know it only gets worse!

So when they borrow from me, they don’t even feel bad that I work two jobs, go to school, and do my chores at home. YES….i get back from work and wash he dishes as if I ate dinner that night.

In addition, do you guys think I’m being self…because i’d really love to hear your opinions like for real. I’d hate to should like a little spoiled b*tch.

Yes, he has a job…it just doesn’t pay as much as his old one. But he should still save because he definitely doesn’t get paid minimum wage like myself.

And yes…i DO have a savings account. I only save my tips at home because they’re already cashed and well..they’re my “fun” money.

Why do people feel the need to give gifts that they think the person should have, rather than giving a gift that person would want? I just don’t understand the logic behind it.

What’s your opinion? If you are against giving out money as a gift, then please explain why?

Also, people don’t mind wedding registries, but are highly offended if a couple requests money. Why? What’s he difference? Either way, they are still asking for what they want, so why saying you want money tacky, but setting up a registry isn’t?

Last question Who wrote the book of etiquette anyway? Shouldn’t someone update it?

Wow. I didn’t know thats how people felt. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions though. It still doesn’t make much sense to me. To me, it doesn’t seem impersonal. To me it seems like you are giving something that you know the person can use instead of playing the guessing game.
Orangutan, I’m surprised you said it isn’t common for weddings. I actually think it’s the opposite. Weddings may be the main event where the couple would prefer a monetary gift!
