So I dont always go to church, but I do go. Technically I am Catholic, thats how i was raised. But I dont mind visiting other Church’s or other religious ceremonies. My husband and I got married 3 days before he deployed. Most people dont agree with having a “wedding” 1 yr after having already been civily married. But thats what we did. We just went to the court house. but the Sunday before we went to have a blessing done by my priest. He didnt really bless our marriage, the blessing was for our relationship in general and that my (now husband) would come home safely. Well, during his deployment, I have been planning a “wedding”. I consider it more of a ” celebration of unity through marriage” bc from experience thus far some people get offended if you didnt do your wedding the “right way” . Anyway, now we are planning a to have a religious ceremony and our wedding is in just one month, I have been working with the minister who will preform the ceremony. We are trying to find scriptures that talk more about being married, rather than getting married. Also, im not really sure what to do as far as vows are concerned, should they sound more like vow renewals? (No one was at our civil wedding, but my point is, i dont want to sound like an idiot asking my husband to be my husband), some of my family says its okay, bc well, weve never “been together”) His family is very much like..You must be married under the eyes of God for the marriage to be accepted.. and so we have never had the oportunity to sleep in the same room in 3 yrs. CRAZY right! lol. but we dont need that to be in love. And in our oppinion we as a couple are doing just fine. Im just kind of stuck because, its not as though we are trying to hide anything, I already have my husbands last name, only we have never lived together or anything. Anyway. Any advice? Suggestions on Scripture? –
