What your doing is actually an intellegent first step, known as market research. You now know that some people are willing to work with you in selling or advertising your product.

Business Liscensing is of minimal cost. In as much as this is a part time business, your local state government may rewuire you to get a resale permit (Tax ID) unless you are planning to wholesale to the trade for retail sales. Starting out small should not cause you any problems legally until you start to get numerous orders.

Good luck with your new venture.

Congratulations for the decision to become a business entrepreneur!

You can make $600 dollars before you look into registration of your business. In order to prepare for larger volume, check out the EIN (Employee Identification Number) in a browser search box or Federal business ID in order to predict future requirements but:

I would definitely drop by a small business accounting firm in your area, and ask some basic questions about you initiative. Most of these guys are really helpful.

It is people like you that keep the wheels rolling in this economy.

Your action of placing business cards in strategic places is a very good business decision. Do more of that.

Congrats on starting your business. Sounds like you are off to a good start. You absolutely can do this legally. Depending on your local and state laws, you may not even have to register a business, you could do everything as a contractor (and get a 1099 tax form).

1.) First you should check into getting the company registered, mainly for tax reasons and to make sure that people cannot sue you (and attack your personal assets). Call your local county office or township and they should be able to tell you how to get started.
2.) Another great resource is that for a couple of hundred dollars will walk you through everything you need to start your business.
3.) Think about purchasing business insurance, though for your line of work it may not be necessary.
4.) You can get business cards printed very cheap at
5.) Get an online presence, such as your own website, or at a minimum, advertise at or register as a supplier at and create a free store.

    Good luck.
