my sister will be doing all the decorations for my reception. We want to cover the ugly walls but we were wondering how we will be able to do this since they told us we couldn’t use tape or nail anything to the walls or ceilings. any ideas? (I don’t want to hire a decorator.)

have you heard of the sticky tac stuff? it will stick to hold things up but comes right down so that there is no prove of it even being there. that might work, maybe ask them if that is okay most venues are okay with that because it cant damage the walls.
Can you use string to tie things up? Or fishing wire that is clear and unnoticable? Maybe you can stick it in a ceiling tile or something and hang things down near the walls. What if you made some kind of stands with poles that hold large wreaths or decorations?
drapes??? and maybe use stands to hang them up dont hang them from the actual walls… watch wedding sundays on WE tv
lots of ideas there
well y did you pick an ugly hall to begin with. Most halls do not allow hang decor due to liabilites and the fact that they might ruin things. Either pick a new place or live with it
it would be costly but using stands like what photographer use for backdrops all it does it hold up cloth and once you have the cloth you could decorate it with what ever you wanted at that point anyway you wanted.
My hall is simular they let us use tape but we can’t hide their ugly photo’s lol but i’m not getting married for the decorations… I want good food and good entertainment like moon bounces and dunk tanks! oh i’m geeked again! yippy!
Use wall putty. It’s strong and won’t leave marks.
Covering the walls will just draw MORE attention to them.
Dim the lights and concentrate on making the tables pretty … linens, place settings, candles, flowers, centerpieces. That will draw attention away from the walls.
Serve the best food and drinks you can afford, and book some decent entertainment. If people are happy and enjoying themselves, then there is no need for them to be staring at the walls.
I had the same problem, my advice would be to hire a lighting designer. They run around 600 but they are worth it. If that’s a bit out of your price range, then just dim the lights and add some lighting to your centerpieces.
go to a different place or out side
Will they let you pin things to the ceiling?
I’d suggest looking into pipe and drape, like they use at trade shows:
You don’t have to buy it, there are plenty of places that will rent this sort of thing. Check around at event/expo rentals and see if they have that or something similar. Call your local convention center or a recommendation, too.
