I am working on a limited budget for my wedding and I need help decorating the champagne floots for the wedding party. I want to paint or trace double hearts on them, but what would I use for paint? What would stay on a glass that is probably going to get condensation on it, and have to get washed when they bring it home? Any other idea’s to decorate it?

Consider buying acid paper from a craft shop. One side is applied to a glass surface, and you sketch the pattern you want through the paper onto the glass. This eats the top of the glass surface, and your design will come out as frosted glass. Won’t go away, won’t wash off!
And I don’t believe acid paper is expensive…
There are enamels for painting on glass. There is also something that you can use to etch your glass as if it were sandblasted. Go to a Wal Mart or Hobby Lobby and look around or ask where to locate these items. Be sure and get a cheap glass to practice on first so that you are sure of what and how you want to do it.
Engraving would only cost about $5 each. OR you could go to a local craft store and get some glass paint and stencils.
If you really want to go on a budget just get some ribbon that matches your colors and decorate.
go to a hobby shop and ask for a glass marker it comes in a lot of colors I did the same thing for my sisters wedding and it turn out great we also did glass beads wrap around the base of the glass with a thin 24 gage wire that also came in many different colors that you can also find at a store like hobby lobby.
also you can do a heart etching on the glass they have that also at a craft store with a lot of wedding stencils
How about a little glass etching? There’s a product called Amor etch or etch cream, or something to that effect.
Or you could get Perm Enamel, no bake paint. OR you could get a glass paint.
Visit your local Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.
my husband decorated ours (yes that was typed right he actaully participated) he used a transparent sticker sheet and printed pics of us with our names and wedding date on top of them then cut them out in heart shapes and they held on even with cold liquids in the glass plus it was really sweet to see him think that up all by himself
i’m not sure what ur budget is but my budget is not much also I found the glasses at Walmart with the 2 hearts already on them for like 17 I think it was… If not search ebay they always have peel and stick wedding favors and what not… get alot of them for real cheap….good luck….
There is special paint for this go to a craft store I’m going to suggest Micheals because I know they carry a craft sheet on how to paint glass I’ve used it and the paint can even be heated in the oven. You also could by etching stencils that are basically rub on type stickers that go on. Buy a couple cheap glasses to practice on and don’t forget the weekly coupons I saved a fortune on my wedding using them.
You can get them engraved rather inexpensively, that’s the best way. There’s also glass paint you can buy at any craft store, but you cannot wash them in a dishwasher, you would have to hand wash them.
You could also get some of those wine glass charms (or make them yourself). Tie ribbons around the stems in the wedding colors–braid them down the stems and tie in a pretty bow at the base. Stick some flowers (silk) in the bow (hot glue if neccessary to the ribbon only), that would be pretty too.
Just keep it simple, painting on the glass wont even matter because people hardly notice it when they look at the table because theres so much other decorative stuff on there. One wine glass that caught my attention at a party was one with a sugar rim. the glass wasnt decorated just had a color sugar rim around the top of the glass. It looks gorgeous and classy and its a really nice touch for a wedding party table.
If you are going to glue anything on the glasses, use super glue gel. That is the best stuff. I used it to make marble magnets and they didn’t make any smudges at all, so it will leave a clean look on the glass.
Painting would be pretty, but if you want something that looks a little more professional, there is this stuff you can buy that etches whatever you draw into the glass and it comes out frosted. I can’t remember what it is called because I haven’t used it in over 10 years, but as long as you or someone has a steady hand and can work with stencils, it comes out beautiful
Check with a big craft store; there is paint made for glass. Put ribbons and silk flower around the stem.
Actually, what works best for glasses is to have them etched.
sure, you can get glass paint or etching cream at your local craft store, and the directions are easy. it won’t wash off.
you could twine a floral spray and/or beaded wire around the stem, or use ribbons in your colors to tie them together so that you have to co-ordinate your sips…
remember less is more, keep the focus on each other.
best wishes,
cryllie
im also donig this for my wedding….you can buy the paint from most craft shops…… make sure you buy a few extras just in case………. (you can allways have them) we are putting their names on one side (in stead of place cards) and our names and date on the other …… if your crafty youll have no worries …..
you could get some printed ribbon and tie it around the stem with a note
Michael’s has special paint that is used to paint on glass. Use a stencil because to paint hearts free hand is difficult. With a stencil it would be quite easy. Stencils and special paint can be purchased at Michael’s or any art and craft store. After you do that, why not use satin ribbon and make a beautiful bow on the stem of each champagne flute. Nice idea?
