I think I am allergic to gold!?

I have always worn gold. Usually it is 10k just for strength. I stopped wearing my wedding ring (solitaire, wrap, and anniversary band) which is made from 10k yellow gold. I wear gold in my ears, but only in my upper lobe. My lower lobe piercing doesn’t like any kind of metal in it for long- it starts to itch. Anyway, I wore my wedding ring the other night for about 5 hours and got a welt around my finger and it was very red and itchy. It seems everytime I try to wear my ring, it does this. Could I be allergic to it after all these years? What can I do if I am allergic to it? Any suggestions? Thanks!
