White crepe paper and fake flowers.
Go to Costco and buy some nice wide wired ribbon. Make some huge bows and tie them on each pew going down the center aisle (the one you will walk down). It is simple, elegant and inexpensive. Congratulations!
Netting, toulle or gossamer!! I would do every other pew!! Get big ribbon for bows.
I am a wedding photographer and I’ve seen everything from every pew decorated to every other one to just the first 10 that guests are expected to sit in. If money is an issue then go for every other pew it doesn’t look undecorated that way and cuts costs a bit.
Now as for inexpensive ways. I went and got flowers at my local grocery store where they sell bunches 3/$12 and I made little bouquets tied them with ribbon and hung them on the end of the pews with duck tape made in a loop that couldn’t be seen behind it. and NO not DUCT tape but there is a tape called DUCK tape that doesn’t ruin finishes I use it to tape down cords and hang up backgrounds all the time.
You could put a swag between the rows to block the center aisle with a flower arrangement or pew bow on each row/pew. The swag could be tulle or other fabric or even ribbon. We did tulle and small flower arrangements for our daughter’s wedding. We left the front two rows open for the family with slightly different arrangements (these had more color and ribbons than the rest). I would do the first half dozen or so pews on each side.
Try Googling pew bows-you will find MANY pix. Also, if you exercise a little patience, you’ll find many sites that show how to make pew bows. Buying the materials (tulle and ribbon) yourself is SO much cheaper.
I’m pretty sure that traditionally, every single pew gets a bow on the aisle end, however, I’d bet that if you went with every-other one, it would still be beautiful, or only decoate the front third of them.
Also, enlist the help of your bridesmaids, mother, aunts, anyone who is willing, to assemble the bows.

I married in a Catholic church also & I decorated the first 10 rows, that is where the immediate family sits (both sides) I had white bows from a store called Party City – they sell everything very cheaply- one step up from the dollar store. I think it was $20 for all of the bows. Who’s going to know? All they have to do is look at it. I also had ribbons on those same rows. As for the “white carpet” – the church supplied that. I supplied the candles & centerpiece on the altar.
It will look very beautiful with just the first 3-4 pews having a large bow on them as these will be the main one’s in all of the up close pictures. What you could do to make it special is to make some “Small Bags of Rice” (actually fill with birdseed, as rice is harmful to birds) put the seed into netting and tie a nice little ribbon around them, either hang them on the rest of the pews or put them in a basket for you quests to take, or use small containers of bubbles for them to use as you walk outside.
Don’t concern yourself to much with the Pew’s concentrate on nice floral arrangements for the Alter that can be taken to your Reception afterwards, saving you on some decorating cost’s.

my niece had her bridal shower guests makes pew bouquets… her mom got a bunch of flowers and fern and such at the dollar store and we were paired off with an example on the table of what she was looking for. Each one was as individual as the next, not too expensive and a great way to spend the afternoon. I would think doing just a couple pews is all that is needed. Good luck
Buy a roll of Tulle. It is cheap, there are alot of colors to choose from. You can make fast poofy flower shapes or bows in a snap then hot glue some fake flowers in the middle.
i would recommend the tulle swags i think they look beautiful and why not sprinkle some rose petals down the aisle it creates a really nice appearance you can buy fake petals for cheap (ebay) and in every colour. If you want to attach some silk flowers on the tulle swags for a shot of colour that would be nice too. Good luck!
I love the look of tulle swags down the aisle accented with pew bows or flowers and greenery. Not only does it look nice but it is also economical. The number of pews to decorate will vary based on the number of pew rows and the number of invied guests. Your wedding decorator should be able to help you decide how many pews should be decorated.
I am a Catholic Latina when i got married the church was big, it was a cathedral. I had a satin bow with tiny flowers and baby’s breath at each pew. But the first six rows had a bow just like the others. And between the pews these had a tulle rope in twinned with baby’s breath. People said that the pews were very beautiful. People would undo the rope and take their seat. This was for the wedding party, family and very close friends. Now remember this is a cathedral. This was very cheap to make. You could decorate with some tool and fake flowers, if you have a Hobby Lobby in your area they have a really beautiful selsction of fake flowers that look and feel real! Plus you don’t have to decorate each pew, you could save money and only decorate the first 2 pews on each side for the families and special guests.
