I am getting married and am considering a garden wedding. However, I have a pool that I want to cover up .?

I have a pool that I want to cover up just for the wedding that can hold at least 40 people. The wedding will be in Riverside, CA. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why cover it up? We are having a Garden wedding too and I am using the pool as a feature. We are putting floating candles and flowers in the pool. I think it will look really pretty.
Other than that, I guess you can get someone to build a big timber cover for the pool, and cover it with potplants and such but I think this will be rather costly. Prhaps you could screen it with a temporary wall???

Party supply rental places have dance floors especially made to go over pools. Do some research and I’m sure you’ll find a local one, especially in CA.

It could cost a lot but cover it with clear “glass” so you can walk on the top and still see the water underneath. Float flowers and candles in it and it would look great!

Aw, don’t cover it up. You can put rose petals and floating candles and other stuff in there. Could be very relaxing and serene! Much better than a stuffy cover

There are actually companies who cater to this sort of thing, and you can just search around for architects or stage builders.

What will basically have to happen, is there will have to be a solid “stage” built over the pool. This will either work by haveing something a few inches off the ground that supports itself (with extra safety by placing a large thinner stage over the pool opening itself) Or there will be a”stage” built, but there will be supports or legs that go into the pool itself for help in the center.

It depends on how big your pool is and the type of company you are looking at. If you want to do it yourself, at least have someone come and look and make suggestions as to what should be done.
(either tell them up front you dont want to use them you just want a consultation, they may have a small fee…. or let them know youre looking into different companies and ask if they would come over, look at the spot, give you an estimate on price and what materials they will use…. this way you can get a free consultation too)

If you want to cover it up so the space can be utilized, you can contact any of your local tent rental agencies that specialize in weddings. They will come out and look at your space and will give you a quote on a pool floor covering.
However, this can be very, very pricey.
If you would rather use the pool space, there is a great pool dye, safe to use, that turns the water a brilliant blue.
Try putting a bunch of balloons in the pool (all different sizes) that will match your wedding colors. Floating candles for pools can be pricey. I looked into it for my wedding and they were around $5 a piece! Sometimes more.

Do you mean you’re planning on seating people on top of the pool area? My thought would be to build a makeshift deck over it – slats attached to a frame just as you would a real deck, to ensure that it will hold everyone. You could make it look like a dock if you wanted to. Home Depot or a similar store could probably help you with the plans.

My aunt had a wedding in her back yard in Florida, and everyone ended up being thrown INTO the pool, so good idea covering it up!

If I were you I would not cover it up, first it would be safer and it would be gorgeous to have some floating candles and floating flowers. But if you have to cover it up check out pool supply stores and maybe some party supply places may have some but I would check with the pool supply stores

Why do you want to cover it up? I think a wedding beside a pool would be nice! You could buy some lillies on pads to foat around (even fake ones) and it would look really pretty!

Otherwise, you can buy pool covers at any pool store. But, I think it wouldn’t look as nice if it was covered up.

you should contact a party planning service or a party rental service and they can help you do that. if you must. it would be prettier if you used it as a water feature and floated a bunch of floral bouquets on it. and there is a huge safety issue covered or not with water and guests. so, you have to be aware of all these issues.
