How much soda for a wedding?

I’m getting married in a few weeks and I have no idea how much soda to buy. We will also be providing beer and wine for our guests, which means they will probably drink less soda. We’re planning on serving Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Sprite as the soda options. Our RSVP count is at 98 (16 of them are under 21).

Just buy 13 or so 2-liters, and you should be fine. That’ll serve a little more than 100 people. One 2-liter bottle has about 8 servings in it. Plan for like one soda per person and that’ll account for the people who either don’t drink soda, or drink more than one soda.

I’d stock up. I’m getting married soon, but I’m not purchasing all the drinks, etc. I’m getting a service, so I don’t have to worry about it.

I’ll have around 30 that don’t drink alcohol. Me & the bride don’t either, because of our meds.

Same with wine – we’ll be getting that bubbly stuff, not that alcoholic wine

Adults drink soda too because not all adults like beer or wine. You need enough for each guest and at least 2 cans per person per hour.

Edit: Don’t buy 2 liters unless you want flat soda in minutes after opening them which does not taste good to most people. If you’re buying your own soda, stock up on cans at Costco/Sam’s cheaper than if you were to go to a local grocery.

make like fruit punch for the kids cheaper like get a punch dish like they do at the kids school dances and let them pour it there self…

i would purchase 3 12 packs of Pepsi, 2 12 packs of Dt. Pepesi, and 3 12 packs of Sprite… giving you 96 cans of soda…

Don’t forget to offer sparkling and still water. I would estimate at least four non alcoholic drinks per person.

A previous post suggested cans, and I think this is a very good idea….no pouring, soda doesn’t get flat, and easy to just have in coolers. I would suggest that when you estimate, it would be better to overestimate, rather than under. Extra cans of soda don’t expire, and anyone would take them home if you don’t want them. If it were me, I would get atleast one can for everyone….maybe even 2 cans each, depending on how long it is. Even if there was beer and wine, and I drank one or the other, I would probably want something non-alcoholic to drink too.

Watch for really good sales at all grocery stores and Walmart/Target. The normal price for a 12 pack is about $6, but when they are on sale, you can get them for about $3. Or buy in bulk at costco or sams if they have a great deal!

I would count it as 1 serving/person/hour, considering there is 1.5 servings in one can of pop (soda).

1 x 98 x 5 hours = 490 servings. This means you need 327 cans or 28 dozen packs. I would get 6 dozen Diet, and 11 dozen each of Pepsi and Sprite.

EDIT: And cans are so much better for a million reasons than bottles. With cans, the guests can be served a can and a glass and they take it. With a bottle, someone has to stand there and pour it and resist spilling it. Cans get consumed quickly after being opened and bottle go flat so quickly after being opened. People tend to drink less with cans because they can count how much pop they have had instead of consuming from a communal bottle. If cans are opened and not finshed then just a cup or so gets thrown out but if bottle are opened and not used then 2L could be wasted.
