The Catholic version of a “Unity Candle” isn’t like you hear on here. And it can differ from parish to parish or even from country to country, you need to ask the priest.

We only needed one candle that the two of us lit using tapers. We lit the tapers from the Easter Candle. Our mother’s weren’t involved.

But if you want your mother’s involved then talk to the priest and see if you can have your mother’s light two candles from the Easter Candle and then you use those to light your single candle.

there is Only one unity candle the rest are all superficial the main cereamony lighting candles is done before the wedding starts and the unity candle is lit during the ceremony

That is correct. You need the one main one in the middle, and two dinner taper size for either side of the main one. However, at my church we provide two even thinner candles for the couple and the mothers to light their candles, instead of taking the two tapers out of the holder – They sit off to the side right on the altar – you can’t even see them until you get up there – using these are MUCH safer than trying to take the lighted candles out of the holders.

Well the unity candle isn’t in the least a catholic ceremony, so I’m going to assume that you’re doing the standard version. Yes, you are correct in the numbers of candles you need.

Just a suggestion – light all the candles in advance. It’s always easier to light a candle that was lit before, and it looks really really bad when the unity candle won’t light. Yes, I’ve seen it.
