I am trying to piece together exactly what I want my wedding dress to look like so a friend can make it for me. I will be dancing the whole night, so I need to figure out a type of skirt that won’t get in the way, but still look like a wedding dress. I don’t want it too much above the ankle, and I want it to be a little poofy. My real problem is finding the right fabric. I want the volume of a skirt somewhere between a-line and ball gown, but I am hesitant to use tulle because it is pretty stiff. Overall I want the dress to be flowy and light. Also, the wedding will be outside in the summer, but in the early evening.
My fiance and I got engaged in May ’08 not too long after he left for overseas. The plan was for me to plan the majority of the wedding while he was gone. And then when he got home we would have 4 months to finish the rest of the planning together.
While he has been gone I have paid and signed contracts for the church, reception hall, cake, invitations, my wedding dress and accessories, the bridesmaids dresses, accessories, and gifts, and reception decorations. I planned on doing the flowers myself and was currently talking to photographers and caterers.
Everything was fine in our relationship until December when he came home for his leave. He shut me out and then told me he thought we should postpone the wedding. I asked him why and he said he was confused.
Since then we have talked about things and he has completely apologized for the way he went about things but says he still thinks postponing the wedding would be best. I asked him for his reasoning again and he said he wants us to be better financially so that we could afford the wedding and be still be okay. I told him I understand that but if we postpone it we would be losing all I have already spent on everything, but he still thinks it would be better to postpone.
Now he mentions finances and tells me that he doesn’t know if he loves me.He talks about our future together like we will be together forever, but yet he doesn’t know if he loves me. He says that he knows he cares about me or he would have left me already. He says that he wants me with him and vise versa but isn’t sure if what he feels is love because he has no prior experience with it.
At this point I agree the wedding should be postponed, but I am so confused and so hurt. He used to tell me how much he loved me and now he tells me he doesn’t know what love is. I feel like I just wasted all this money and got my heart slashed open along the way. I love him and want to be with him forever, but I am confused on how I am supposed to be feeling right now.
Or do you think no because the backdrop of the dress is white? Would you wear it? Would you be offended if someone wore it to your wedding?
