8 CommentsI know everyone says that a cash bar is “cheap” and shouldn’t be done.. We found a bartender that is only charging $30 an hour as long as we buy our own alcohol… But we figured that since we can’t really afford it, we would charge people for the drinks anyway, just to make some money back for our honeymoon.
Now, I just got an email from the bartender telling me that his insurance wont cover a cash bar but we could do a “ticket bar”… where people buy tickets and exchange them for drinks? I’ve never once heard of this and it doesnt seem to make any sense to me but i figured since that is really our only choice to charge $4 of one ticket(drink), $7 for two and $10 for three… and of course soda, the first champagne toast and water are free…
Does this just seem completely wrong? I really need help. I already feel guilty charging for drinks in the first place but I wouldnt do it unless we ABSOLUTELY needed the money. I’m just worried that it will get too confusing for the guests and no one will end up buying any drinks at all…
sorry, i didnt mean pay for the honeymoon… i just meant help pay off some of our $15000 debt… i didnt want to have a bar at all, but people told me they didnt want to come if there wasnt going to be alcohol served…
