First I want to say that I don’t want anyone telling me that obvious…I know I am overweight and I could stand to lose a few pounds. So if you want to tell fat jokes, don’t answer. With that said, I normally wear anywhere from a size 24 to a size 28 clothing. I am looking for a wedding dress. I know that most (if not all) dresses run small in bridal shops. When I was 15, I was in my cousin’s wedding. I wore a size 14 then and the dress was a size 20!

Now that I am bigger, I know that a lot of plus size wedding dresses in stores only go up to a 24/26. If I wear this size in regular clothes, how will I find a wedding dress?

I am so embarrassed to go into a shop and them tell me that they don’t have anything for me. I have seen some dresses online though that have bigger sizes that I could buy and get altered.

How do I know what size I wear? If I get a dress online that is 4 sizes bigger, can I find a tailor that will do this for me? Do tailors that are not associated with bridal shops do wedding dresses? I have never gotten anything tailored before.

My cousin who is just maybe 2 sizes smaller than me got a dress for her wedding 2 years ago, but she was pouring out if it. It did not look good AT ALL. I know I am not going to look like a barbie doll but I want to look the best I can.

I have been engaged for 2.5 years and I have been putting off the wedding b/c of this fear. I have MS so really doing a lot of exercise to lose a good amount of weight is not an option unfortunately. I mean I can lose some weight, but it would take me a REALLY long time and I have held the wedding off long enough. Can anyone help me.
